Now Fili and Kili proved Dwarves can be hot...

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 25, 2012, 3:39 AM
...when is everyone going to start drawing a sexy Gimli? He's not that old, and he's from the same kind of warrior elite among his people as Boromir and Legolas are among theirs.

That's nothing against older characters of course, and they can be very awesome and sexy, too.

But most of Gimli was filmed about ten years ago, when Peter Jackson quite clearly didn't like Dwarves yet and found them quite uncool. They weren't handled with much dignity. I guess many people in the LotR fandom felt that way. And Gimli, being the most important Dwarf in LotR, got most of it, poor bastard.

Now that they are at last officially deemed cool, Gimli should be redeemed, right? :aww:

Dokomi 2012 Round 1

Journal Entry: Sat May 26, 2012, 1:18 PM
Dear god. When in cosplay, I should only ever speak English as opposed to German - regardless of whether people can understand me. Why have I not noticed this sooner? My English is almost refined enough to pass as "polite company" in 1812, whereas my German would be well received on DSDS or GZSZ. "Ey geil Alter, wie krass ist das denn?!" :XD: Well, it makes for quite amiable conversation with most people. I think they forgive me. And I can be more subtle in German when I have to be, of course - in polite company, for example. I just find that a tongue-in-cheek "chavvy" tone of conversation loosens up any tension there might be between myself and a stranger. Have I unwittingly become "the funny one"? I like joking, but I also love elegance. Oh, well, I maintain a balance!

In any case - as Nephtis so accurately put it - Alfred can't dance, and Herbert can't lead. Think about it.

Peace out, more tomorrow.

A demon and his Butler

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 12, 2011, 5:12 PM
For a while, essie-morbide has been planning her original design for a demon!Ciel outfit for this weekend's book fair in Frankfurt and today we finally got around to shooting it! We originally asked Monologue-de-Chi to come and take the photos, but baby-chan was understandably exhausted from a busy few days  So... we self-timed some pictures with myself as Sebastian and QF as Ciel, and of course I was photographer-san as usual for the Ciel-portraits. I also made it in FRONT of the camera ALONE for once - very exciting :XD: I'm happy to show off my new self-styled wig (when it arrived from the seller it looked absolutely horrible and more like a rat's nest than Sebastian's hair) and the gorgeous bustle I made to QF's specifications.

Look out for us at Frankfurter Buchmesse - we'll be there as SebaxCiel on Saturday! :aww:

Oh, also, we have an abundance of leftover cake from this shoot sitting in the fridge. Does anybody want some? :aww:

Kuroshitsuji Chess Match Forest Shoot

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 22, 2011, 1:53 PM
This weekend just gone, I wanted to go to Gamescon cosplaying Cloud Strife. It would have been spontaneous and probably hot and overcrowded, but everything happened differently anyway. Since I had to work on Saturday, we could only do anything nice on Sunday, and because we wanted to use the time we had with Etienne-Magique and Princess-Chuchu while they stayed with us  we spontaneously arranged this Kuroshitsuji photoshoot! Monologue-de-Chi was sweet and came along to be our second photographer-san as I was cosplaying Sebastian Michaelis and so I wanted to be in front of the camera, rather than behind it! :aww:

So our cast was...
:iconrevelio: - Sebastian Michaelis / occasional Photographer-san
:iconessie-morbide: - Ciel Phantomhive
:iconetienne-magique: - Claude Faustus
:iconprincess-chuchu: - Alois Trancy
:iconmonologue-de-chi: - Photographer-san-Vertretung, cobweb arranger, chess winner and bringer of sunshine

Chu said she didn't like Alois, but she suits him so amazingly well that I hope she'll change her mind and cosplay him more often :aww:

Here are the pictures - please enjoy them!

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 4, 2011, 7:39 AM

Not at the same time, obviously, but they're such different personalities that I admire people who can pull them both off.

And Russian cosplayers. It seems that all Russian cosplayers are absolutely brilliant and beautiful whatever characters they're doing. If there's a fanclub for Russian cosplayers, sign me up, I'm in! Kudos to Russian cosplayers.

Anyway...

Here's :iconetienne-magique:'s picture of Ran Mao and Lau wanting to sell my Ciel into slavery in China at Animagic. :XD: I'm protecting him and I really like how my hair falls there! Even my hair is in character. ^__~

AnimagiC plans

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 26, 2011, 4:00 AM

I won't be there on Friday as I have various things to organize. I got the day off work for a photoshoot, but I also need to take (time to recover from Pulp with :iconcormortemducens: and :iconessie-morbide: :XD:) and a trip to the customs office. I'd also like to go to the fitness club as well, because I don't think I'll manage on Thursday. And then I need to practise wearing contacts before going to the studio!

In any case, on Saturday, we'll have :iconflokati-san: staying with us! :w00t: And we'll hopefully meet :iconfanuxsiri:, :iconmonologue-de-chi:, :icontaeyen:, :iconcormortemducens:, :iconprincess-chuchu:, :iconetienne-magique: and many others! If you'd like to meet up, let me know! We'll be around, and we'll definitely come to see the DS fashion show and cheer for our friends (we didn't enter because we wanted to cosplay on Sunday :aww: )

So I'll be wearing...

Saturday - Malice Mizer-style EGA, most likely with blue highlights

Sunday - Sebastian Michaelis with QF as Ciel Phantomhive

Deathly Hallows II

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 14, 2011, 2:37 PM

We went and saw it today.

So this post contains minor spoilers, but I guess everyone's read the book already so.... yeah....

I basically bawled throughout the film. It's very odd - I remember seeing the trailer for the first movie way back, on the crappy AOL browser, and thinking "wow, they're turning this into a movie, I have to see it!"
Then I remember when the Order of the Phoenix came out that the hype REALLY started, the newspapers were saying how unusual it was for teenagers to read through 600-odd pages of an ENGLISH novel just to read it in real time, while everybody else was doing it. Potter's been such a big thing, I think maybe that franchise has been vital in turning fandom "mainstream" even more than Lord of the Rings.

The final movie itself, I loved. I mean, it has its flaws, but all the movies do, mainly in that all the minor characters and details got ignored pretty much from The Goblet of Fire onwards. However, the epic moments were dealt with beautifully, such as the Snape scenes, and the Malfoy scenes, and McGonagall getting her own back and that poor, beautiful abused dragon climbing its way into freedom.

*BAWL*

Things that bothered me/that I wondered about were when Fred actually died, as we never saw it? or are we supposed to wait for the deleted scenes on the DVD to see such a big emotional part of the books? o.O Not sure about that...
Also I'm not sure why Snape couldn't have died in the Shrieking Shack. The glass house didn't make that much of a difference cinematographically, so he may as well have died there.
And the filmmakers have obviously been on a Harry/Hermione trip for ages, which never bothered me in itself, but I do mind how they keep banging that drum when the fandom as a whole seems to have decided it's not going to happen... it seems a bit... um... forced. The last frame of the film, most importantly. Ron's pretty much excluded from that. He's even slightly outside the depth of field. WTF.

But, really, I don't want to complain that much because it's been a while since a movie last made me cry that much.

Narcissa declaring Harry's "dead". Oh, god. I still hate her hair, but the actress does such a good job of playing her there. Well, Malfoy-scenes, as I said above, they're amazing. Lucius, too, I love how Jason Isaacs plays "broken and humiliated".

And then of course there's the Dumbledores... Aberforth wins completely, Dumbledore creeps me out even more than he did before and Ariana might share his creepiness award. I just kept expecting to see a goat with Aberforth...

I may get back to this post when my thoughts have been put into a better order. Does anyone have anything they want to mention about the film? Please comment! :aww:

Ha, another thought. I only watched a documentary about how a boa constrictor kills the other day...
